Creative Consultant/Writer
A frequent writing partner of Brandtrust, Paul is a seasoned industry veteran who has mastered the science of persuasion as well as the science of medicine. Familiar with the strategic subtleties of antivirals, antibiotics, anticonvulsants, antidepressants, antihypertensives, anti-inflammatories, antimigraine, antiobesity—among other "anti's"—he has extensive experience launching pharmaceutical products and, in particular, HIV products.
Paul has worked closely with product management teams on over 10 antiretroviral agents or assays including Kaletra®, Norvir®, and the Virco® TYPE HIV-1 resistance assay. Paul helped Abbott brand their pipeline of antiretrovirals prior to the Gilead acquisition. Capable of distilling high science or developing patient educational materials for disenfranchised patients within the Department of Corrections, Paul has worked with leading nonprofit organizations that serve patient populations (i.e., Test Positive Aware Network) as well as physician audiences (i.e., International Association of Physicians for AIDS Care). Prior to his current role, Paul directed the writing and creative efforts at four major healthcare advertising agencies in Chicago, New York and Durham. Before that, he honed his skills at notable consumer shops in Washington, DC and Chicago. In a diverse and interesting prior life, Paul once mined opals in the outback of Australia, taught handicapped children how to ski in Colorado and trained for the Olympic decathlon in Santa Barbara, California. He holds an M.A. in Journalism from the University of Maryland and a B.A. in Physiology from the University of California in Santa Barbara.
